Future of diagnostics, value-based healthcare and sustainability in focus on day two of Global Health Exhibition 2022

Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), 10 October 2022: A diverse range of cutting-edge healthcare technology and innovation continues to impress the healthcare community today, on day two of the Global Health Exhibition, being held under the patronage of the KSA Ministry of Health.

Taking place at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center, the exhibition is witnessing the largest gathering of healthcare professionals in KSA. The visitors were seen keenly exploring the state-of-the-art healthcare solutions, right from medical imaging equipment to disposables, as well as attending the conference sessions that are driving deeper learning, knowledge sharing and decision-making across the industry.

Day two witnessed a stellar speaker line-up of prominent local, regional and international healthcare leaders coming together to share knowledge. Among them were speakers such as Dr Omar AlShanqeety, Advisor to His Excellency the Minister of Health, Riyadh; Dr Shyam Bishen, Head of Health and Healthcare, World Economic Forum, New York; Dr Sarah Al Dallal, President, Emirates Health Economics Society, Specialist, Public Health Protection Department, Dubai Health Authority, Dubai; Samar Nassar, Managing Director, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Ministry of Investment, Riyadh; and Dr Reem F. Bunyan, Executive Director, Global Innovation Hub, CEO, Center for Improving Value in Health, Riyadh, KSA.

At the Leaders Forum, industry experts highlighted the healthcare investment landscape in KSA, discussed factors that attract investors and shed light on Public Private Partnership (PPP) investments that are boosting healthcare infrastructure and digital health. The focus was also on sustainability in healthcare, with panellists stressing on the importance of close partnerships between government, private and public sectors to urgently invest in sustainable healthcare solutions. They emphasised that such partnerships would be crucial for exploring new frontiers and opportunities in tackling challenges presented by climate change and will play a key role in achieving the ambitions of the Saudi Health Sector Transformation.

Another key focus of the Leaders Forum was value-based healthcare, where speakers such as Dr Samir Said, General Manager, Connected Care and Healthcare Informatics, Middle East, Turkey and Africa, Philips, spoke on the role of connected care in transforming to a value-based healthcare system. He stressed: “We need to talk about the education of healthcare professionals. We need to teach young doctors entering the industry the value of value-based healthcare, as they are the future of it. We need to ensure they have access to the necessary tools to understand it. Value-based healthcare is very complex and multidimensional. It is better healthcare outcomes, improved patient experience, improved staff experience, and a lower cost of care. It’s all these things. But more than that, it needs to be personal too. The system needs to be built on the patient rather than the system. It needs to be patient-centric value.”

On the last day of the show tomorrow, the Public Health conference will explore new opportunities and developments in chronic disease prevention and advancing the health of the general population. Moreover, technology and innovation will remain prominent with the Innov8 Talks – The Start-Up Pitch Competition taking place tomorrow, where the most promising entrepreneurs from around the world will pitch how their solutions will address current gaps in healthcare to an audience of investors.

Under the theme of ‘A new era of healthcare in KSA’, more than 100 speakers and 250 companies from across the world have participated in the three-day event offering an array of opportunities for visitors to connect with healthcare professionals, clinicians and policymakers, learn about the latest medical findings and trends, and network and do business with the global healthcare community.

Solenne Singer, Group Director for Informa Markets, said: “Over the past few years, KSA has made significant strides in redefining its healthcare sector. It is entering a new era of opportunities, driven by the goals outlined by Saudi Vision 2030’s Health Sector Transformation Program. The positive response to Global Health underscores the exhibition’s importance in showcasing the significant achievements the country has made in healthcare and the latest technologies that will drive the industry forward. We are extremely delighted to provide a platform to the healthcare community where they can unite to take the next steps towards building a healthier world.”
