Clean UAE Campaign Reaches Abu Dhabi with Over 70,330 Volunteers

Abu Dhabi, UAE, December 2024: Under the patronage of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the 23rd edition of the Emirates Environmental Group’s (EEG) “Clean UAE” campaign made its third stop in Abu Dhabi on December 9, 2024. Organized in collaboration with Abu Dhabi City Municipality and represented by the Shahama Municipality Center, the campaign engaged diverse participants across Al Rahba, ICAD Residential City, and Labotel Workers Village.

The Abu Dhabi event saw 1,830 volunteers from private companies, government institutions, schools, families, and community groups collect 7,327 kg of waste across 20 km. Concurrently, ICAD Residential City and Labotel Workers Village organized waste collection efforts within their camps, contributing an additional 17,066 kg.

Ms. Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-Founder and Chairperson of EEG, praised the efforts of the volunteers and highlighted the collaboration of Al Shahama Municipality’s team. She noted:
“Clean UAE exemplifies the power of collective action in achieving environmental conservation. The diverse participation reflects how unity can drive meaningful change and sustainability.”

Aligned with global objectives, the campaign contributes to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Climate Action, Responsible Consumption, and Sustainable Communities.

Ms. Al Mar’ashi expressed gratitude to sponsors and partners, including Salik, McDonald’s, the Arabia CSR Network, and supporting entities like Abu Dhabi Terminals, Dubai Investments, CANPACK, Farnek, and others, whose contributions have amplified the campaign’s impact.

The “Clean UAE” initiative continues in Sharjah on December 10, followed by stops in Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain, concluding on December 14.
