UAE University enhances the role of student volunteering work

Al Ain – On 14 October 2022: The Voluntary Work Unit at the United Arab Emirates University conducted a session: “Better Student Volunteering” with the participation of several students from various academic disciplines. The session aims at introducing the concept of volunteering and its role in enriching university students’ involvement in community service.

Ms. Maryam Al Aisaee, Head of the Voluntary Work Unit at the university, said that this event aims at achieving the university’s vision, promoting the university student voluntary work, using youth’s capabilities in voluntary work, and achieving the strategic goals of the university. The university seeks to qualify volunteers to serve the community, by engaging in service activities and events to achieve social solidarity.

She added that the workshop also aims to explain the methods of the electronic voluntary work program, through which the student can register for any voluntary activity inside or outside the university that match his/her desires and capabilities.  The hours of voluntary work will be registered in the student academic record. In addition, the student will receive a To Whom It May Concern Certificate as a recognition of participation. The voluntary work helps the student gain experiences and develop skills in practical life.

The session also addressed the importance of the role of strategic partnerships with several departments and institutions in the country that are interested in volunteering, and better investment of skills and experiences by institutional engagement in voluntary work. The session also discussed the ideas, proposals and challenges facing students during volunteering work and how to overcome these obstacles and difficulties so that the student can perform efficiently, in addition to achieving the desired benefit from voluntary work in the service of the country and society.
